THE genesis for Healing Zen came to light a few years ago on one fine April morning amongst the green rice fields of beautiful Hoi An, Vietnam.
 

The idea stems from asking myself the following question: 

HOW does one design the perfect day to achieve lifelong health & well-being while living in harmony with one’s highest purpose? THE answer ‘received’ was through a transformation of one’s mindset, habits and behaviours.




AND to become an instrument guiding others to remove their own mental and emotional blocks in order to live the life they wish to lead.

WE provide a preventative health care model by supporting and motivating our clients through sustained positive behavioral change by implementing holistic lifestyle interventions including:

STRESS management training to reduce chronic stress and anxiety with meditation and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies to reduce and eliminate self-harm while improving impulse control, emotional self-regulation & self-resilience. 

 

OUR holistic method rests upon using keystone data and insights from the neuroscience behind how habits are formed. It includes tips and techniques on incorporating healthy sleeping habits, regular exercise/movement, intermittent fasting, intuitive & mindful easting strategies and social support.

THROUGH compassionate self-inquiry practices and cultivating empathy for self and others, we are able to liberate ourselves and help free others from the bondage and suffering of addictions and maladaptive behaviors. In turn, they would become empowered and able to nurture deeply meaningful & lifelong social connections while living their best life.

 John was first introduced to meditation

by a Buddhist priest in 2001 

on an awe-inspiring trip to enigmatic Kyoto, Japan 

(home to no less than 1600 Buddhist temples).

 Looking back so many years later, who could have guessed that, 

the path to salvation and freedom from suffering was to be found in that 

initial, seemingly fruitless back-aching 30-min long Zazen (sitting meditation) session 

followed by a bitter-tasting green tea for good measure.

Over the next two decades, 

he participated in countless workshops, 

and weekend retreats in South Korea, Canada and India including: 

a 10-day silent Vipassana meditation retreat 

and a one-month long meditation teacher training 

at the foothills of the majestic Himalayan Mountains 

by the holy River Ganges, 

the birthplace of Yoga, in Rishikesh, India

 John is an avid daily practitioner of 

Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation 

and strives to continuously cultivate this 

timeless practice

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Carleton University, a diploma in Social Science from Heritage College, an Interactive Multimedia certificate from Algonquin College and a former teaching credential from the BC Ministry of Education in Canada.

Prior to pursuing my life’s passion in health, fitness and holistic living and starting my health and wellness business to help people live healthier, happier and more meaningful lives, I worked as an educator in Canada and many other countries for over twenty years.
